Ok, it works. Just too bad it won't convert to m4a, because it won't play in WMP anymore. (I had a m4a codec)

And it will only play in QT.

Ok, I just went ahead and converted the WAV to mp3. Now it plays in all players.

Great! Glad it works for you!

ya, I'm working on making this a lot better than just the raw AAC stream.. since its a c++ app, i can talk to iTunes trhough COM to get all the song tags etc.. and build a real .m4a header for it..

cheers

I guess some people just don't get it. Converting to WAV is *completely missing the point* of these tools. You can ALREADY convert your protected files to WAV using iTunes. Again: You can ALREADY convert your protected files to WAV using iTunes! (or mp3) The point of these tools is to change the file from a protected m4p file to an unprotected m4a file, without decompressing/recompressing.

If someone can tell me how to convert a m4p to a m4a with Itunes6, let me know.

So far, I know of no way. I saved the m4p in case it can be done.

And, how can you change it to wav with itunes?? Without an 3rd party program, and without burning to real or virtual drive??

Check QTFairUse6 2.0. See readme.txt for details.

Prefs->Advanced->Importing->Import using WAV. Right-click on your file and convert to WAV.

Now just add automatic running of FAAD and mp4converter and automatic tagging using the iTunes COM interface.

You can use my perl script to start you off with COM, if you need it Wink

You can use BonkEnc: http://www.bonkenc.org/

It's fast and fairly simple to use.
